MDpay Digital TV
Key Features
Digital TV environment has several special features that effect to the
3-D Secure implementation. Set-top-boxes do not include
full-functionality of the Internet browsers and the digital TV operator
manages the client device i.e. set-top box software. Additionally, the
user interface of the digital TV is sensitive because TV content must
not be hidden and input devices have limited functionality – The
picture on the right describes a typical TV-portal with MDpay digital
TV secure card payment solution.
The above-visualized implementation of MDpay product in digital TV
environment required the implementation of the following
functionalities:
- The communication protocol is HTTP or HTTPS. The solution does not depend on the carrier protocol implementation
- Standard 3-D secure protocol messages are used between MDpay
MPI and ACS. Between digital TV set-top box and ACS, a transition
version of XHTML as the page description language is used using the
name attribute to identify the different elements of the page
- The selection of authentication method is left to the issuer, which
left room for a flexible implementation. However, messaging definitions
take into account several different methods of authentication leaving
room for several authentication fields and multiple-page dialogues
- For message re-directions, automated POST support using JavaScript is supported
- Use of session ID in the application level is implemented
- For application servers requiring session management, URL re-writing is implemented
