First Trial of GUIDE Project Completed with Belgian, Dutch and Estonian Governments
15.8.2006 Project GUIDE (www.guide-project.org) has completed the first trial phase together with the Belgian, Dutch and Estonian goverments. In the trial, the identity management services related to E101 forms (certificate of social security insurance for employees working in other countries) were piloted. Both citizen and business related services were tested in the trial and the feed-back from the governments was very positive. The trial gave valuable input to the GUIDE identity management architecture development, which continues in the area of eProcurement.
GUIDE is a European Union (EU) funded technology research project, coordinated by British Telecommunications alongside a consortium of 22 other commercial and academic partners. Its purpose is to conduct research and technological development with the aim of creating a technological, institutional, policy and socio-economic architecture for secure and interoperable e-government electronic identity services and transactions for Europe.
Modirum has been an active GUIDE partner in the area of technical development and one of the major contributors of the GUIDE identity management architecture. In this work, Modirum has been able to utilise the extensive experience of earlier work with governments and financial institutions. "GUIDE has been a challenging and interesting project in the area of international identity management architectures. GUIDE specifications have already had impact to Modirum product architecture and product offering and we are keen to implement the final version of the GUIDE architecture as soon as it will be finalised", says Pasi Lindholm, Director of International Sales.
